Fright Of

the week

Friday the 13th (1980)

A group of camp counselors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp which, years before, was the site of a child's drowning.

Short review

What makes the movie work is that the slasher genre hadn't been set in stone yet, and some choices that director Sean S. Cunningham makes in the film that work against type.

Praesent dolor purus, porta sollicitudin luctus efficitur, eleifend quis risus. Sed nec ex purus. Cras tristique, ligula a ullamcorper sodales, tellus felis feugiat lectus, sit amet vehicula turpis justo id odio.

Rather quaint by today's standards, Friday the 13th still has its share of bloody surprises and a '70s-holdover aesthetic to slightly compel.
